Watch out: tierra covers two meanings beginners often treat as separate words. It means soil or ground at ground level, but it is also the Spanish name for the planet Earth. A capital T signals the planet; lowercase tierra refers to the physical ground or soil beneath your feet.

Keep in mind: lago and laguna are not the same.
