Beyond the Basics

Heads up: por qué (two words, with accent) asks "why," but the answer uses a completely different form: porque (one word, no accent) means "because." Confusing the two is one of the most common written errors in Spanish.

Pro tip: cuánto changes its ending to match the noun it describes: cuánta for feminine nouns, cuántos and cuántas for plurals. When used alone as an adverb, it always stays as cuánto.
