Hearing loss is one of the most common health conditions in the world, yet most people know very little about it. These quizzes explain how hearing loss happens and what you can do to protect the hearing you have.

Types of Hearing Loss

One quiz sorts out the main types: conductive hearing loss, where sound is blocked on its way in, sensorineural hearing loss, which involves the inner ear or the hearing nerve, and mixed hearing loss, which combines the two. You will also learn about single-sided deafness, sudden hearing loss, and how to read an audiogram.

Protecting Your Hearing

The other quiz is practical. You will compare the decibel levels of everyday sounds, learn how long you can safely listen at different volumes, and find out what tinnitus is and how hearing aids help.

Did You Know?

Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent, but it is also preventable. The hair cells in your inner ear do not grow back once loud sound has damaged them, so earplugs at a concert are one of the easiest health habits there is.

How the Quizzes Work

Each quiz is short, about five minutes, and both are free to play as often as you like.

These quizzes are for learning only and are not medical advice. If you notice a change in your hearing, see a doctor or an audiologist.
