SIM Card Plans and Data (part 1 of 2)

Walking into a phone shop in an unfamiliar city and walking out with a working number is one of the small victories that makes a whole trip run smoother. This part of the conversation puts you right at the counter, explaining what you need and settling the plan and the payment in Spanish, until the whole exchange feels routine instead of intimidating.

You will work through the vocabulary of getting connected: saying what you are after with Necesito una tarjeta SIM para mi teléfono, choosing between a plan with data only and one that also covers calls, asking ¿Puedo pagar con tarjeta?, and handing over your passport when the clerk asks to see it. The same words come back at rental desks, ticket windows, and anywhere you compare options and pay for a service. You will also get used to hearing how an assistant offers help, quotes a monthly price in pesos, and confirms that everything is ready to use.
