Security is where the instructions come quickly and you are expected to act on them straight away. Here an officer tells you what goes in the tray, what has to come off, and what is not allowed through at all. Understand those instructions in Italian and you can move along the line calmly instead of copying whatever the person ahead of you is doing.

This part builds the vocabulary of the checkpoint and, more broadly, of being told what to do politely. You will meet commands like Metta lo zaino e la giacca nella vaschetta, hear the reason behind i liquidi non possono passare, and ask after your belongings with Posso prendere le mie cose?. Because the officer speaks formally throughout, you also get steady exposure to the verb forms Italians use with strangers, and the gap between deve and devi is exactly the sort of detail that decides whether you sound polite. The section closes with directions toward the gate and a word of warning about the departures board, so you practice understanding where to go and what to check on the way.
